Man faces charges after bicyclist killed in Summerlin

A man suspected of drunken driving was arrested Tuesday after striking and killing a bicyclist in Summerlin.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m. on Rampart Boulevard near Del Webb Boulevard. A tan sport utility vehicle driven by 38-year-old Feliciano Gonzalez hit the bicyclist from behind, sending him into the landscaped shoulder. The name of the 27-year-old bicyclist, who died at University Medical Center, was not released.

Gonzalez left the scene and was stopped by police at Rampart and Cheyenne Avenue. Police said alcohol contributed to the crash, and he was arrested on charges of driving under the influence resulting in death and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. It was the 45th traffic-related fatality in the department's jurisdiction this year.
