Ski resort to close Sunday

The Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort will close Sunday after the longest season in its 47-year history, resort officials said.

The resort, located in Lee Canyon, has historically closed in the second week of April and recently had been scheduled to close April 25.

The longer season was made possible by heavier than normal snowfall and more even snowfall throughout the season, according to the resort.

Because of early snowfall, the resort also opened the season in October, seven weeks before its traditional Thanksgiving Day opening.

The resort will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
