Harper selected by Washington Nationals in major league baseball draft
Bryce Harper was selected by the Washington Nationals today with the No. 1 overall pick in the major league baseball draft. Harper, who attended Las Vegas High School and the College of Southern Nevada, is the first Las Vegas native to be the top draft pick in any major professional sport. He has played mostly catcher during his career, but the Nationals are expected to move him to the outfield. Speculation is Harper could get a bigger deal than last year's No. 1 overall pick, Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg, who signed a record-breaking $15.1 million, four-year contract.
