HIKES

Red Rock Canyon: On Monday, a moderate, 5-mile hike along the Mustang Loop. On Wednesday, a strenuous, 7-mile hike to the main ridge of the mountains east of Mount Potosi. On Friday, a moderate, 3.7-mile hike through the first part of the Grand Circle. On Saturday, an easy, 2-mile hike into Sandstone Quarry's past. Also Saturday, a moderate, 4-mile hike with some scrambling past Calico Tanks (515-5367).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people over 50, interested in hiking and related social activities, plans a three- to four-hour moderate hike each Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. To learn more about the group and the meeting place for the hike, contact 228-0773, or the club's Web site: www. aroundthebendfriends.com.

OTHER PROGRAMS

Red Rock Canyon: On Tuesday, a 20-minute program ongoing from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the visitor center on bats. On Friday, an interactive program for 2-8 year olds about the birds of Red Rock Canyon. On Saturday, a program for 2-6 year olds on how animals deal with the winter cold (515-5367).

Archaeo-Nevada Society along with the Bureau of Land Management invites volunteers to help with Red Rock Conservation projects. Visit www.archaeonevada.org.
