County approves one-year lobbyist contracts for work on UMC, water

Clark County leaders approved one-year contracts on Tuesday for two lobbyists.

R&R Partners will represent University Medical Center at a cost of $90,000 for state issues and $216,000 at the federal level.

UMC extended the firm's state contract for a year. The firm won the federal contract after the hospital solicited proposals from 31 firms.

Marcus Faust, a federal lobbyist, will represent the county and Water Reclamation District at a cost not to exceed $153,000.

The yearly pay for the lobbyists' state and federal contracts are about the same as last year, said Commissioner Steve Sisolak.

Faust used to represent UMC. Last year, Sisolak expressed concerns about Faust juggling so many lobbying duties.

His criticisms led to UMC's federal contract being opened to competition.
