Helicopter makes emergency landing at Lake Mead National Recreation Area
A tour helicopter made an emergency landing Thursday at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the National Park Service said.
It’s the second time this week a tour helicopter in distress has landed at Lake Mead. No one was reported injured.
Thursday’s landing happened at 6:20 p.m. A tour helicopter operated by Sundance Helicopters of Las Vegas was on a return flight from the Grand Canyon. There were seven passengers on board including the pilot, the park service said.
The pilot decided to land after alarms and warnings went off indicating an electrical problem.
On Monday, a tour helicopter made an emergency landing after striking a bird mid-flight. That helicopter was operated by Maverick Helicopters Inc. The pilot sustained lacerations to his face but the six passengers were uninjured.
