THE WATER COOLER

Here are a few things in news, entertainment and popular culture that we've been talking about lately.

* The Chihuahua from the old Taco Bell ads dies. Yo quiero CPR -- stat!

* Comic-Con '09 wraps up in San Diego. The largest gathering of geeks since the Great Palo Alto Donkey Kong Rumble of '81.

* "G-Force," a movie about guinea pig spies, beats "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" at last week's box office. Prompting J.K. Rowling to begin work on her next opus, "Harry Potter and the Damnable Rodents."

* Pervs searching the Internet for surreptitiously taken photos of ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews find their computers infected with a virus. Digital karma.

* Archie of comic book fame pops the question to ... drum roll... Veronica. At least it wasn't that skank Cherry Blossom (look it up).

* Elvis Presley fans celebrate the 40th anniversary of the King's debut at the old International Hotel. A crew of cardiologists will be on hand when the celebratory peanut butter/banana/bacon layer cake is cut.
