Fight leads to man’s death in northwest valley

A 39-year-old man died today after being involved in an early-morning dispute in the northwest valley, Las Vegas police said.

Police did not identify the man, who was Hawaiian and died at MountainView Hospital. Police responded to a report of two men fighting about 1:30 a.m. on the 8700 block of Harvest Valley Avenue, near Durango Drive and Cheyenne Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a man who was not breathing.

Police said a witness told them the man who died and a second man had been drinking prior to getting into a fight. The possible suspect is cooperating with authorities and gave a statement to homicide detectives, police said. The investigation is ongoing. When the investigation is completed, it will be submitted to the Clark County district attorney’s office, police said.
