Hagar to open restaurant at McCarran

The guy who brought the world "Bad Motor Scooter" is now motivated by grander forms of transportation.

Sammy Hagar, former Van Halen rock band member and the artist behind "I Can't Drive 55," is opening a restaurant at McCarran International Airport.

Hagar's second airport restaurant aims to serve jet set island style cafe food under the name "Sammy's Beach Bar and Grill."

Hagar and airport vendor HMS Host will celebrate the grand opening Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the airport.

Hagar's profits from the venture will go to Las Vegas-area charities through the Hagar Family Foundation.

No word on whether Hagar, whose former band Montrose used a guitar to mimic the sounds of a motorcycle engine in "Bad Motor Scooter" has discovered an instrument that can re-create jet noise.
