Man accused of killing girl, 7, in 1994 tells judge he’s innocent

The man accused of killing and sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl in 1994 said today that he is innocent and won't accept any deals.

Gregory Wallen, 36, said he is "not guilty" of killing Diana Hernandez in Las Vegas and dumping her body in a trash bin.

He spoke during a brief hearing in Las Vegas Justice Court, where he appeared from the county jail via teleconference.

Justice of the Peace Joe Bonaventure Jr. ordered Wallen held in jail without bail.

Wallen is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on July 1.

Wallen's arrest this week closed a chapter in a mystery that haunted Las Vegas for more than a decade.

Authorities linked him to Diana's slaying through DNA evidence taken from the victim and a fingerprint found on a cardboard box where Diana's body was discovered.
