Information sought about sex offender
Las Vegas police are seeking information on a convicted sex offender who lived here in 2002.
On Wednesday, police said 29-year-old Martin Lee Gerber, who now lives in Utah, was convicted of lewdness with a minor involving a girl he baby-sat.
Police said Gerber once lived in an apartment on the 1900 block of Jones Boulevard, near Lake Mead Boulevard.
Gerber, who has green eyes, is about 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighed about 240 pounds when he lived in Clark County.
Anyone who might have had inappropriate contact with Gerber is urged to call the Metropolitan Police Department at 828-3421 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.

Henderson council race gets third candidate
A third person entered the running for Henderson City Council on Wednesday, and two more joined the race for Boulder City Council.
The newest candidate in Henderson's Ward 3 is Cathy Rosenfield, who serves as chairwoman of the city's Parks and Recreation Board. She will join Kathleen Boutin and Bruce Cutler on the April 7 primary election ballot.
The race for two open seats on the Boulder City Council now includes Tim Clifford and Cam Walker, who joined Matt Di Teresa, Duncan McCoy, Anthony Pakula, Joe Roche and John Schleppegrell.

City detention workers accept cuts in raises
Las Vegas' detention center workers have agreed to cuts in their cost-of-living raises and some benefits, making them the second group of city workers to open their labor contracts in the face of crashing city tax revenues.
The Las Vegas Peace Officers Association accepted a cost-of-living increase of 2.5 percent, instead of 3.5 percent, for the 2011 fiscal year.
The changes, which were unanimously approved Wednesday by the Las Vegas City Council, are expected to save $750,000 over the next two years.
The Las Vegas City Employees Association agreed previously to a 1 percent reduction in the cost-of-living increase.

Police hunt for man as 'person of interest'
Las Vegas police are searching for a "person of interest" in a slaying last month near the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Police said the man was seen near the area of the slaying and is considered a witness.
Police found Las Vegan Emanuel Bowie, 26, fatally shot in an alley Jan. 28 in the 5100 block of Golden Lane, near Tropicana Avenue and Maryland Parkway.
Police are searching for a black man between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall. He was seen wearing a blue New York Yankees jacket.

LV police nab suspect in fake-firefighter case
Las Vegas police have arrested one of the two people suspected of dressing up as firefighters and stealing a flat-screen television from an apartment complex workout room.
Jay Campanile, 48, was booked in the Clark County Detention Center on Friday on charges of burglary, grand larceny and impersonating an officer, jail records showed.
According to his arrest report, Campanile, with 26-year-old William Moyer, went into the Cambridge Park Towers on Jan. 9 wearing Clark County Fire Department T-shirts.
