THE WATER COOLER

Here are a few things in news, sports, entertainment and popular culture that we've been talking about lately.

* Southern Nevadans wait for Mojave Max , Clark County's own harbinger of spring, to appear. Max would have appeared already, but he took a look at his latest 401(k) statement and decided that six more weeks of hibernation seemed about right.

* Apple co-founder/computer wiz Steve Wozniak will compete on this season's "Dancing with the Stars." And, thanks to a surely coincidental hack into the show's vote-counting computer, Wozniak seems to have already won.

* Las Vegas homeowners worry that property values will decline if a cemetery complex is built in their neighborhood. Economists call the phenomenon "The Poltergeist Effect."

* Seventy-nine percent of respondents to a Consumer Reports poll say the state of their personal finances hasn't adversely affected their frequency of sex, but 5 percent say they're having sex more often. Well, sure, now that they no longer have to spend eight hours a day working at an actual job.
