Ron Futrell arrested in car accident

KTNV Channel 13 reporter Ron Futrell was arrested last weekend on misdemeanor charges related to a hit-and-run car crash, a spokesman with the Nevada Department of Public Safety confirmed Thursday.

Futrell, 52, a former anchor, was arrested about 1 a.m. Saturday by the Nevada Highway Patrol at his home in the northwest valley, said Dan Burns, a spokesman for the state agency.

Jace Radke, a spokesman with the city of Las Vegas, said Futrell was booked into the Las Vegas jail about 1:30 a.m. and released later on Saturday.

Burns said Futrell was arrested on recommended charges of obstructing a police officer, unsafe lane change, hit and run with property damage, failing to give information or rendering aid and failing to report an accident.

Burns said the accident happened near Interstate 15 and Charleston Boulevard. Futrell was driving a sport utility vehicle when he hit another vehicle, said Burns, who didn't know if passengers were with Futrell at the time of the accident.
