Judas Priest at The Pearl

Nostradamus couldn't have predicted this: Well over 400 years after his death, a leather lovin' heavy metal band would fashion a two-disc rock opera in his honor.

Leave it to the more-is-always-more ethos of veteran ragers Judas Priest to accomplish such a feat, even if their latest effort is a bloated, overblown affair that ranks among the lowlights of their lengthy career.

Still, Priest is always on fire live, and we'll borrow a page from the inspiration for their newest album and predict lots of fist-in-the-air chestnuts when the band hits Las Vegas.

See Judas Priest at 8 p.m. Monday at The Pearl at the Palms, 4321 W. Flamingo Road. Tickets are $58-$78; call 944-3200.
