CDS

Robert Pollard, "Superman Was A Rocker": Former Guided By Voices main man Robert Pollard is one of rock 'n' roll's all-time most prolific songwriters, seemingly dropping a new album with every errant beer belch -- and as a world champion Miller Lite drinker, there's plenty of those.

But for all their ragged, lo-fi charm, Pollard's tunes seldom feel like toss-offs; instead, they're remarkably consistent pop gems that re-imagine The Who in the suburbs of Southern Ohio.

Also in stores: Blue Highway, "Through the Window of a Train"; Edie Brickell, "The Heavy Circles"; British Sea Power, "Do You Like Rock Music?"; Deaf Pedestrians, "... and other distractions"; Dengue Fever, "Venus on Earth"; Dread Zeppelin, "Bar Coda"; Idiot Pilot, "Wolves"; Dave Koz, "Double Feature"; Kylie Minogue, "X"; Maceo Parker, "Roots & Grooves"; Simple Plan, "Simple Plan"; Ashlee Simpson, "Outta My Head (EP)"; Widespread Panic, "Free Somehow."
