Strip club sign gets city funds

At long last, a Las Vegas Boulevard topless club has the funds it was seeking to refurbish its sign.

Olympic Garden will receive up to $50,000 from the city of Las Vegas to offset the cost of upgrading its exterior. The funds come from the Commercial Visual Improvement Program, which subsidizes improvement projects downtown.

The new signs will rebrand the 24-hour cabaret as the "OG" and will include a large video screen to broadcast images to passing traffic.

The entire upgrade is expected to cost $131,700.

The proposal caused a minor dustup because city funds would be going to improvements on a strip club, and a finding had to be made that the improvements would not take place without an infusion of public money.
