Father kills family, self in Arizona

KINGMAN, Ariz. -- Police believe a man shot his girlfriend and their infant daughter before taking his own life Wednesday evening in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

The bodies of the victims were found Thursday morning in their duplex in the 2700 block of Tonto Drive, when the man's employer notified police he did not show up for work at UPS.

Lt. Richie Sloma said "ongoing relationship" issues triggered the deadly violence Wednesday.

Sloma said investigators believe Jay Vaetoe' Tuimauga, 22, first shot Summer Pettit, 21, in their master bedroom. He said they suspect Vaetoe' Tuimauga entered another bedroom where he shot 15 month-old Aaliyah Vaetoe' Tuimauga in her crib.

Sloma said detectives believe Vaetoe' Tuimauga returned to the master bedroom and shot Pettit again before turning the gun on himself. A Glock .40 caliber handgun was recovered at the scene.

Sloma said the couple moved to Lake Havasu from Utah about three years ago. He said police had no prior contact with them.
