Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Mondays on the Mount: Head up to Mount Charleston on this moderate six and one-half mile hike along Bristlecone Loop (515-5367).

Red Rock Canyon, Mummy's Toe: A very strenuous nine-mile, with 2,300 foot gain, past Mummy Spring, then scramble up to the peak on a steep route with scree and other obstacles Friday (515-5367).

Red Rock Canyon, Corn Creek Spring: Saturday, an easy one-half-mile walk at a major bird watching area (515-5367).

Around the Bend Friends: This group of people, 50 years and over, interested in hiking and related social activities will meet at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Santa Fe Casino, 4949 N. Rancho Drive, South Parking Garage, on the left of Level 3, for a moderate three-hour hike at Mount Charleston (642-2285).

Red Rock Canyon, Keystone Thrust: Saturday, a moderate three to four-mile hike along a wash to climb a nearby ridge to watch the sunset (515-5367).

Cathedral Gorge State Park: A moonlight hike Saturday at 8 p.m. Meet at the Campground amphitheater, bring flashlight and wear closed-toe hiking boots or shoes. Visit cathedralgorge_vc@lcturbonet.com or call (775) 728-4460.

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, New Moon: Meet at the Tour Gate Friday at 7:45 p.m. for a two-hour hike with some bouldering at Sandstone Canyon. Arrive 15 minutes early, as the park gates close when the hike starts. No dogs or children under 12 years old allowed. For details, call 875-4141.

Las Vegas Valley Bicycle Club: A 6:15 a.m. moderate to fast 15-20 mile road ride is scheduled for Wednesday. Meet at the NuVision Cyclery on West Lake Mead Boulevard between Rampart Boulevard and Scholar Lane (next to Jitters). (228-1333). There will be a 40-plus mile, ride on Wednesday and Thursday at 7 a.m., and a 30 to 50-plus mile ride on Saturday at 7 a.m. All meeting behind Starbucks at 10250 West Charleston Blvd. (873-6256). Hunter Education Class: Nevada Department of Wildlife is accepting applications for the Monday/Tuesday, 5:30-9 p.m. class at Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive, Henderson, and the 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. class on Saturday at the NDOW office, 4747 W. Vegas Drive. They will begin accepting applications Thursday for the 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 14 class, and the 6-9:30 p.m. classes on July 16 -17, both at the NDOW office (486-5127, Ext. 3501).

The Mule Deer Foundation: A nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring the future of mule and blacktail deer and their habitats, will have their annual banquet Saturday at the Hampton Inn, 4975 S.
