NEON MONDAY

Band delivers subtlety, screams

A Static Lullaby comes with the requisite tonsil-terrorizing shrieks and cement-mixer guitars that have come to define the grossly overstuffed screamo ranks, but these dudes distinguish themselves with melodic chops as pronounced as their sore throats.

Whereas many acts of this ilk merely tack on big, harmony-laden choruses to their otherwise turgid thrash, this bunch is skilled at interweaving subtle shades of melody into the crevices of their tunes, resulting in a sound as bright as it is bone-snapping.

See the band at 6 p.m. at Jillian's, 450 Fremont St. Tickets are $10; call 759-0450.
