2-year-old found dead in woods was placed there, police say

PITTSBURGH — The body of a 2-year-old girl was found in the woods of a Pittsburgh suburb on Sunday and police believe the toddler was dumped there.

Adrionna Williams was found dead about 40 minutes after her family reported her missing, Allegheny County police told the Associated Press.

The girl’s body was found by a dog walker in a wooded area about 7:45 p.m Sunday night and Pa. authorities believe she had been placed there because it was too far a distance to walk there alone.

Williams’ family had reported her missing less than an hour before she was located.

Local police don’t suspect the girl was taken by a stranger.

The medical examiner’s office is set to conduct an autopsy Monday.
