Allegiant will upgrade presence at Florida airport

Allegiant Travel Co. has decided to upgrade its presence at the Punta Gorda Airport in Florida to a full-fledged operations base on June 27.
Allegiant, which operates Las Vegas-based flier Allegiant Air, is the only airline service Punta Gorda, in southwest Florida, with nonstops to three destinations. Concurrent with the base launch, four more routes will be added.
The base designation means that one of its MD-80 series jets will be stationed there, along with an unspecified number of flight attendants.
Allegiant already has eight bases, including three in Florida. The flier's home base is Las Vegas.
