Wynn, Lucky’s set odds on WSOP final table

Two Nevada sports books have installed Martin Staszko of the Czech Republic as the favorite to win the World Series of Poker’s Main Event in November.

Staszko is the chip leader in the nine-player final table in the $10,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em World Championship, scheduled to take place Nov. 5-7 at the Rio.

Lucky’s Race and Sports Book placed 5-to-2 odds on Staszko winning the Main Event and the $8.71 million first prize. The sports book at Wynn Las Vegas and Encore opened Staszko as a 3-to-1 favorite.

Staszko has 40.175 million in chips.

New Nevada gambling regulations approved this year allow casinos to offer wagering opportunities on nonsporting events. On July 15, the Gaming Control Board provided approval to accept wagers on the World Series of Poker’s Main Event.

"This is a great event for wagers," Wynn Race and Sports Director Johnny Avello said in a statement. “Not only will gamblers be betting on other gamblers, but nongamblers who just have a love of poker and follow this event every year can get in on the action, too.”

This is how the odds shape up for the World Series of Poker Main Event final table, which includes players representing seven countries. Three American poker players are in the mix — Ben Lamb, Matt Giannetti and Phil Collins.
