Casino company shares gain amid broad stock rally

Shares of major Las Vegas-based casino companies and other companies with a Las Vegas presence rallied sharply Wednesday as the Dow Jones industrial average gained 308 points.

Caesars Entertainment Corp. shares were up 48 cents, or 7.4 percent, to close at $7.40 on the Nasdaq. Las Vegas Sands Corp. was up $2.59, or 5.61 percent, to close at $48.75 on the New York Stock Exchange. MGM Resorts International shares gained 63 cents, or 5.41 percent, to close at $12.27 on the NYSE. Wynn Resorts Ltd. shares gained $5.58, or 4.96 percent, to finish at $118.07 on the Nasdaq.

Shares of NV Energy gained 44 cents, or 2.43 percent, to close at $18.58 on the New York Stock Exchange. Shares of Southwest Gas Corp. added 98 cents, or 2.31 percent, to close at $43.39.
