888 Holdings, WMS Gaming form poker partnership
888 Holdings Plc, the parent company of 888 Poker, has signed its second deal with a U.S. gaming company, as the British-based online gaming company expands its free-play websites, company officials said Thursday.
The new deal enables WMS Gaming Inc. to offer 888's proprietary poker platform to its U.S. land-based casino companies, initially on a play-for-fun basis, with an ability to launch real-money games as poker is regulated on a state-by-state or federal basis.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Both companies have applied for interactive gaming licenses in Nevada. The companies are being investigated by the state, before gaming regulators hold hearings to determine their suitability to do business in Nevada.
As of Thursday, the Nevada Gaming Control Board hadn't released its July meeting agenda.
"WMS is one of the main gaming supplies in America, with a network of relationships with land-based operators that is second to none," said Brian Mattingly, CEO of 888 Holdings, in a statement.
Last year, 888 signed a deal with Caesars Interactive Entertainment to provide the Las Vegas-based gaming company with the equipment, software and security measures to operate online gaming websites in the United Kingdom.
