Paul Mathews Jr. cut to the heart of what members of the governor’s Gaming Policy Committee hope to address over the next five months: Nevada needs to capitalize on the rapidly changing Internet gaming market. Plans to renovate and reopen the Roadhouse Casino remain on hold after Station Casinos LLC settled a lawsuit involving the city of Henderson. Sunset Station LLC had filed a lawsuit claiming city officials unlawfully approved plans for the Roadhouse to operate as a nonrestricted casino without having to build a 200-room hotel. The city attorney’s office reversed course and agreed with Station’s position

The annual Visitor Profile Study shows that tourists’ spending on things besides gambling went up in 2011, continuing an upward trend that began taking shape in 2010. But the money tourists told researchers they budgeted for gambling declined when compared with 2010.
