Pinnacle set to open L’Auberge casino in Baton Rouge

Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. will open L'Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge, the company's new $368 million casino overlooking the Mississippi River, today.

Anthony Sanfilippo, president and CEO of Las Vegas-based Pinnacle, said the planned Wednesday opening was postponed because of Hurricane Isaac. Louisiana gaming regulators approved the property's gaming license on Friday.

"We are pleased to finalize our regulatory approvals and debut the newest member of the Pinnacle family," Sanfilippo said. L'Auberge Baton Rouge will employ more than 1,000 workers and generate $50 million annually in gaming taxes.

Shares of Pinnacle gained 4 cents, or 0.36 percent, to close Friday at $11.07 on heavy volume of 650,580 shares traded in the New York Stock Exchange.
