Union Gaming Group opens subsidiary in Macau

Las Vegas-based Union Gaming Group has opened a subsidiary in Macau.

The firm, which publishes equity research and analysis on the casino industry, placed an office on the Macau peninsula. The special administrative region of China had gaming revenues of $25.4 billion in 2010, making it the world's largest gambling jurisdiction.

Nevada-based gaming companies Las Vegas Sands Corp., Wynn Resorts Ltd. and MGM Resorts International operate casinos in Macau.

"There is no substitute for having feet on the ground in the two largest and most dynamic gaming markets in the world, said Grant Govertsen, one of Union Gaming's founders and the head of Union Gaming Research Macau Ltd.

"Our integration into these communities will allow us to deliver a unique set of resources to our clients that has never been offered before," Govertsen said.
