Although some of the initial panic about the possibility of swine flu outbreaks developing into a worldwide pandemic is fading among many medical and government officials, the death toll is still rising as the disease continues to spread around the world. The outbreaks have hurt businesses and tourism in many places as governments ordered schools and businesses closed or people tried to avoid crowded places.
