Dollar General will expand to Nevada
Discount retailer Dollar General Corp. said Monday that it will create 6,000 jobs at 625 new stores across the country, including in Nevada, which will see its first Dollar General locations open this year.
The company is also expanding to Connecticut and New Hampshire.
The Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based company, which operates more than 9,200 stores in 35 states, plans to remodel or move 550 existing stores.
In a statement, Dollar General Chairman and CEO Rick Dreiling said, "Bringing our store model of convenience and value to more people in more states is an exciting opportunity for us."
The company has benefited from consumers seeking bargains due to the recession, and last month reported a 10.1 percent increase in third-quarter sales.
Dollar General did not respond to requests for comment.
