Public Utilities Commssion will hold session on rate change
The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada will hold a consumer session on Thursday to gather public comment on an NV Energy rate change.
The hearing does not involve NV Energy's June 6 general rate case filing. The commission will schedule consumer sessions for that case later this summer, and will accept related ratepayer feedback then.
Thursday's session involves a decline in the rates that pay for energy efficiency programs and for purchased power and fuel to run the utility's power plants. Electric utilities aren't allowed to profit from purchased power and fuel costs, and must pass changes in expenses directly on to ratepayers.
If the commission approves NV Energy's request, electric rates would drop 2.7 percent.
The consumer session is scheduled for 6 p.m. inside the commission's local office at 9075 West Diablo Drive, Suite 250.
