Glitch delays some Southwest Airlines flights
Dallas-based Southwest Airlines was affected by a telecommunications outage late Tuesday that delayed some flights nationwide.
"We did have a telecommuications systems outage that affected customer service at our ticket counter and gate area throughout the system. Manual systems were in place; there were just short delays," said Ashley Dillon, a spokeswoman for Southwest Airlines in Dallas.
Dillon said manual systems helped check in people so the system was slow but not stopped.
She said the problem was resolved about 5:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.
Late Tuesday, McCarran International Airport's website showed scattered delays for arriving and departing flights.
Southwest Airlines is typically McCarran's busiest carrier and often carries more than 1 million passengers every month.
