Greeley promoted to assistant managing editor

The Las Vegas Review-Journal has promoted Mary Greeley to assistant managing editor.

Greeley, who had been news editor, will lead the newspaper's transition to a universal copydesk, which will have copy editors edit stories from all sections. This promotion reflects the new responsibilities she has assumed.

"Mary is uniquely qualified to lead the desk through this transition,'' said Review-Journal Editor Michael Hengel. "She is an outstanding editor and leader."

As the universal copydesk evolves, Greeley will help retool processes and implement new ones to assure that copy and pages are well edited and flow smoothly.

Greeley's career started as a reporter with the Ely Daily Times in 1980. She worked as reporter and news editor at Carson City Appeal from 1983-1986 (when current R-J Deputy City Editor Don Ham was the editor). She also served as copy editor at the Chico Enterprise-Record from 1986-1988 and editor of the Ukiah Daily Journal from 1988-1990.

Greeley joined the Las Vegas Review-Journal in 1990. Since then she has worked as copy editor, wire editor, weekend editor and news editor.
