Horsford firm to handle marketing efforts for MGM National Harbor
A firm headed by former Nevada Congressman Steven Horsford will oversee brand marketing efforts for the $1.3 billion MGM National Harbor development, a resort under construction near Washington, D.C.
The contract was awarded to R&R Resources+ through its status as an independently owned Minority Business Enterprise. R&R Resources+ will focus on diversity marketing, corporate social responsibility and workforce strategy for the hotel-casino being developed by MGM Resorts International. Las Vegas-based R&R Partners is a minority owner of R&R Resources+.
MGM National Harbor is part of the National Harbor development along the Potomac River in Prince George's County, Md. The development is expected to open late next year.
Horsford, a Democrat, represented Nevada's Congressional District 4 for one term before losing in the 2014 mid-term elections.
MGM National President Lorenzo Creighton said Horsford's firm has "strong expertise in the hospitality and gaming industries, as well as deep market knowledge and extensive relationships in the Greater Washington, D.C. area, all of which are assets to our business."
