Southwest Gas says director will retire
Southwest Gas Corp. said Friday that Carolyn Sparks, a director of the natural gas utility, gave notice of her plans to retire at the end of her term.
Sparks' term ends May 7.
She has served on Southwest Gas' board of directors since 1988. Sparks is on the compensation and pension plan investment committees.
Southwest Gas officials didn't say why Sparks plans to retire, but the company released a statement saying it was grateful for her "counsel, insight, advice and dedicated service over the last two decades."
Chrysler consolidation claims Desert Dodge
A nationwide Chrysler plan to consolidate the dealerships that sell the company's cars has claimed Desert Dodge.
The Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep dealer at 4701 W. Sahara Ave. closed Friday.
Marc Cannon, a spokesman for the dealer's parent company, Florida-based AutoNation, said Desert Dodge had about 75 employees.
AutoNation will try to place as many workers as possible with its 13 other Desert Automotive Group dealerships in Las Vegas.
The city's remaining Chrysler dealers will recognize warranties on new cars sold at Desert Dodge, he added.

Treasury prices fall after volatile week for stocks
Treasury prices fell Friday after a volatile week in the stock market.
The benchmark 10-year Treasury note fell 0.19 points to 97.66. Its yield rose to 3.04 percent from 2.97 percent late Thursday.
