Voters OK table games at MTR racetrack
Voters approved a referendum allowing poker, blackjack and other table games at Mountaineer Race Track and Gaming Resort on Saturday.
With all 28 precincts reporting, the measure passed 59 percent to 41 percent, according to Hancock County election officials.
Mountaineer's corporate parent, MTR Gaming Group Inc., is in the process of selling its Binion's Gambling Hall & Hotel for $32 million.
Southwest Gas rates to rise next month
Southwest Gas Corp. rates for the typical residential customer will increase by 95 cents to $57.96 effective Aug. 1.
That's based on a typical residential customer using an average of 42 therms monthly in Southern Nevada.
The gas distribution company makes quarterly adjustments to its rates to reflect changes in the price of the fuel.
