Local market gets new exec for Cox Communications

Cox Communications announced Thursday that it has promoted its local chief to a job in another region and named a California executive to replace her.

Marilyn Burrows, the cable company's senior vice president and general manager of the Las Vegas market since 2009, will take over as senior vice president and general manager of its Central region, which covers Arkansas, Kansas and Nebraska.

Veteran Cox executive Duffy Leone will replace Burrows. Leone will leave his position as senior vice president of operations for Cox's unified California system to take the Las Vegas job.

Leone has also served as senior vice president and general manager of Cox's Orange Coast system, which includes the Orange County, Santa Barbara and Palos Verdes markets. He joined Cox in 1980 as a door-to-door salesman, and began working in general-manager positions with Cox in 1987.

The changes take effect Jan. 16.

Cox provides cable, Internet and digital telephone service in Las Vegas. The company has more than 400,000 customers in Las Vegas.
