Nevada Housing Division administrator Horsey to retire
Nevada Housing Division administrator Charles Horsey has announced his retirement, effective Jan. 3, after 30 years of working for the state.
Horsey has been a strong fixture at the self-funded Nevada Housing Division within the Department of Business and Industry.
He was appointed deputy director of the State Department of Commerce by Gov. Richard Bryan 1983 and was promoted to administrator of the Nevada Housing Division in 1986.
Under Horsey's administration, the division has made more than $2 billion in mortgage loans for qualifying families. The division has also funded more than 30,000 units of affordable apartment units for families, seniors and special-needs housing.
"During my tenure with the Housing Division, I am most proud of playing an instrumental role in growing by leaps and bounds, housing programs for seniors, many of which are on fixed incomes," Horsey said in a statement.
