New Big Lots store opening in Henderson shopping center

Low-priced retailer Big Lots is opening a store Nov. 9 at Lake Mead Crossing shopping center in Henderson.

The 21,900-square-foot store at 350 W. Lake Mead Parkway will carry everyday consumables, seasonal goods, home decor, electronics, toys and one-time closeouts, including name-brand furniture and Serta mattresses.

Big Lots' merchandise typically sells for 20 percent to 40 percent less than discount stores and up to 70 percent below traditional retailers, said Rob Claxton, senior vice president of marketing for Big Lots.

"We are confident this new store will prove to be a big hit with smart shoppers who are seeking better deals and bigger savings to combat the increasing costs of everyday living," he said in a company statement.

Big Lots district manager David Nielsen will make a $2,500 donation to Burkholder Middle School and present a check to Jessie Phee, principal of Burkholder, at the grand opening.
