Power restored at Golden Nugget

A spokeswoman for the Golden Nugget hotel-casino in downtown Las Vegas says power has been restored after a nearly two-hour outage that forced patrons to stop gambling.

Golden Nugget spokeswoman Amy Chasey told The Associated Press that power was restored before 4 p.m. Thursday, less than two hours after the outage tripped a fire alarm and caused slot machines to turn off.

NV Energy spokeswoman Jennifer Schuricht says the outage occurred after someone in the area hit a cable underground while digging. Schuricht said seven utility customers were affected but six were back online about two hours later.

Fremont Street Experience spokesman Thomas Bruny says the Golden Nugget was the only casino affected.

Chasey says about 80 percent of slot machines and all table games are back up.
