Shred-A-Thon set April 21, raises identity theft awareness

Individuals and businesses are invited to bring any documents they want shredded for free to Opportunity Village's Shred-A-Thon event on April 21.

Richard Emanuele and his brokerage team at Golden Real Estate and Investment are paying all the costs. The documents will be shredded by National Association of Information Destruction-certified professionals. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Golden Real Estate's office at 8335 W. Flamingo Road.

Oscar Casteñada of Option One Real Estate said the Shred-A-Thon raises awareness of identity theft during tax-filing season and benefits employees of Opportunity Village. Team Emanuele will have agents available to answer questions about short sales and foreclosures, he said.

Opportunity Village is a nonprofit organization that helps people with severe intellectual and related disabilities.
