Spirit plans nonstop flights to Minneapolis-St. Paul

Spirit Airlines added another city to what is emerging as a small hub at McCarran International Airport, with plans to fly nonstop to Minneapolis-St. Paul starting May 31.

The current schedule lists seven nonstops a week plus others as connections. Delta now dominates the route with 44 flights a week to its Minneapolis hub, with niche leisure-oriented carrier Sun Country flying a dozen times a week. That is almost exactly the same level of service as four years ago, although US Airways had 10 nonstops when it still operated a small hub at McCarran.

In February, the Spirit schedule included 140 flights a week out of McCarran to eight different cities, with Denver announced in February as a new destination.Contact reporter Tim O'Reiley at
