Brian Greenspun, publisher of the Las Vegas Sun, has joined the board of directors of Canadian mining company Barrick.
The appointment follows the heels of Peter Munk’s resignation and a call from major shareholders for independent expertise on the board. One of two appointments announced Friday, Greenspun joins J. Michael Evans, the former vice chairman of Goldman Sachs.
Greenspun represents the first Nevadan ever appointed to the board, according to an email sent by Barrick Vice President Michael Brown.
