Switch Communications approved to hold casino data

The state Gaming Control Board has approved the first hosting center in Nevada for casinos to store their technology and other data.

Switch Communications Group LLC gained registration Thursday as a hosting center in Clark County, state gaming regulators said in a statement.

Board Chairman A.G. Burnett said agents inspected the site and determined that it meets the requirements of state law. The Legislature allowed the board to register hosting centers and persons associated with them.

Switch Communications was founded by Rob Roy. Roy is chairman of the privately held company that operates several data centers in Las Vegas.
