Ultimate Electronics looks to sell inventory, close stores
The owner of the Ultimate Electronics retail chain has asked the bankruptcy court in Delaware for permission to sell off its remaining inventory and close its 46 stores nationwide, including two in Las Vegas.
If approved by the court, the going-out-of-business sales would begin Saturday. The Las Vegas stores are at 2555 Tropicana Ave. and 741 S. Rainbow Blvd.
Store managers at both locations declined to comment. Messages left at Ultimate Electronics’ headquarters in Thornton, Colo., were not returned.
The parent companies of Ultimate Electronics — Ultimate Acquisition Partners LP and CC Retail LLC — filed for bankruptcy protection Jan. 26. Ultimate Acquisition Partners owns 35 stores; CC Retail operates 11 outlets.
Both companies are units of Ultimate Acquisitions LLC, which did not file for bankruptcy.
