KINGMAN, Ariz. — A Mohave County corrections officer who pleaded guilty to sexually coercing a female inmate was indicted in a similar case involving another female inmate.
A new indictment led to the postponement of Thursday’s sentencing of Shannon Correll, 25, of Bullhead City in the incident at the sheriff’s substation .
Attorneys might roll both cases into one modified plea agreement.
He faces 2½ years in prison after pleading guilty to unlawful sexual conduct.
Sheriff Tom Sheahan said Correll led a 29-year-old woman arrested on domestic violence allegations in August to a shed behind the substation where he performed an illegal strip search and made sexually suggestive remarks .
Correll is alleged to have engaged in similar behavior in July. Sheriff’s spokeswoman Trish Carter said he had sexual intercourse with a 24-year-old woman whom he led to the same shed.
Correll pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of kidnapping and unlawful sexual conduct in the July incident.
Lawyer Lee Phillips has lodged a $300,000 claim against the county on behalf of the woman in the August incident.
