Coroner identifies northwest valley shooting victim

The Clark County coroner identified the man shot and killed in northwest Las Vegas Friday as Charles L. Allred Jr., 36.

Las Vegas police responded to a call about 8 a.m. Friday and found Allred dead in a yard on the 300 block of View Drive near Jones Boulevard. Homicide Lt. Ray Steiber said Friday that a preliminary investigation found there had been a confrontation between Allred and someone at the house before the shooting. The Clark County coroner has ruled the death a homicide.

Several witnesses at the scene, including one who said he lived at the house , said Allred was upset after being kicked out of the house. Allred left but quickly returned with a gun. Wrestling ensued, and Allred was eventually shot and killed, the neighbor said.

No arrests had been made in the case late Monday.
