Feds sieze $18 million from 2013 cases

The U.S. Attorney’s office in Nevada collected $18 million through criminal, civil and asset forfeiture actions in the 2013 fiscal year, Justice Department officials said.

The money collected represents nearly three times the appropriated collections budget for the fiscal year.

An additional $1.9 million were collected in civil action cases pursued by the District of Nevada and other U.S. Attorney offices.

The money will be used to aid crime victims and law enforcement, officials said.
