Man, 22 women arrested in Reno area prostitution sting
RENO - A prostitution sting netted nearly two dozen arrests in Reno and Sparks over the weekend, including several suspected prostitutes from California who said they made the trip to try to capitalize on the Hot August Nights classic car celebration.
Police said FBI agents joined local detectives in the two-day operation dubbed "Innocence Lost."
One man and 22 women were arrested or cited for suspicion of illegal prostitution. Most were in Reno's Fourth Street corridor but some were nabbed at a hotel-casino in Sparks listed in online advertisements for escorts.
The youngest suspect was an 18-year-old man and the oldest a 45-year-old woman.
Many of the women told investigators they had children and several said they were addicted to drugs.
Police suspect some were working for pimps.
