Man critically injured in North Las Vegas shooting

A 21-year-old man was shot and suffered life-threatening injuries late Thursday afternoon near Lake Mead Boulevard and Eastern Avenue, North Las Vegas police said.
His identity was not released.
Police said at 5:24 p.m. the 21-year-old man and his 17-year-old companion were walking in the 2700 block of Hickey Avenue when they were confronted by unidentified suspects.
The victim was shot by one suspect numerous times, police said.
The victim, a Las Vegas man, was transported to University Medical Center.
Police had not made any arrests as of Thursday night.
