North Las Vegas police detained a man late Sunday in connection with a homicide investigation that started when a man's body was found in a street earlier in the day.

Sgt. Tim Bedwell, a spokesman for the department, said Timothy Oliver, 18, of North Las Vegas, was detained Sunday evening. Oliver was wanted for questioning in the death.

Bedwell said investigators were called about 5 p.m. to the 2400 block of Lexington Street, near Carey Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Bedwell said shots were heard in the area.
